How to prevent nail polish from chipping off?

I usually wear fake nails. But I don't want to wear them all the time as I keep having to buy new ones. I like nail polish but I hate it when it chips off and looks tacky. Any tips please? How to prevent nail polish from chipping off?
Buy a really good brand of nail polish, such as Sally Hansen- it's more expensive than other brands but worth it. Also, leave your nails to dry for as long as possible and then immerse them in a bowl of cold water for a minute or so. Every couple of days apply a new coat of clear polish to touch it up.

Hope this helps :) xHow to prevent nail polish from chipping off?
before putting nail polish on get a clear top coating and put that on and let it dry for about 5 mins or so and then put 2-3 coats of nail polish then let it dry for a few mins(until its not stick) and to finish it off put on a clear coat again...if you need help search it on youtube=)
Use a base coat and a top coat. I use the ';no chip'; top coat by Revlon and it's great. You just add a coat each day to protect the polish.
After the few coats or colored nail polish dry, put on several coats of clear polish. That should make them last at least 2x longer without chipping off. It always works for me.
Put on 2 coats of your regular nailpolish, waiting for the first to dry before putting the second one on.

Then put on a final single coat of clear nail polish :)
Use a base coat and a top coat.

I use this and find that its really good! :
