my solution should be used only as a last resort, and only if you REALLY want the stain gone and you have an old/cheap couch, and it works on any stain.
cut a square around the stain, flip the square around so the stain is now facing down, and sew the pacth back on

My grandmother swears that OFF! Bug repellent takes it out. I've heard this many times, so maybe she's right.
She said to spray it on the area, rub it in with a small brush or old tooth brush and rinse it off with water after a few minutes. It got red polish out of her new white dress after nail polish remover didn't work.
