What is in nail polish remover that makes it so smelly and strong enough to remove polish?

Like what kind of chemical or ingredient is it?What is in nail polish remover that makes it so smelly and strong enough to remove polish?
It's the solvents used in polish remover that causes the smell. With nail polish remover that contains acetone, that is what causes the smell - the acetone in it. In the case of non-acetone polish remover, it is usually either ethyl acetate, methyl acetate, butyl acetate, or a combination of them. Sometimes methyl ethyl ketone is used as well. That is also a solvent. What is in nail polish remover that makes it so smelly and strong enough to remove polish?
It's called Acetone, it is a very strong chemical. [We learned this in chemistry]

  • How do I get Nail polish off of tile and grout?

I dropped it in the kitchen and the bottle busted. We were able to get most of it off before it dried except for smears in the grout and tile. I am afraid polish remover will damage the ceramic. How do I get Nail polish off of tile and grout?
It won't I dumped an entire bottle of bright red polish on my white ceramic tile and it got into the grout. I used my non-aceton nail polish remover and got it all out of the grout and the tile. You have to keep moving the rag or cotton ball as it becomes saturated with the polish to keep from smearing it all over. How do I get Nail polish off of tile and grout?
Using nail polish remover should be okay. I shouldn't mess up the ceramic.
no it will not mess up the tile all of us women im sure have done the same thing i used 2 bottles of remover on the tile and grout and it is fine..

My 2 yr old daughter spilled nail polish all over our living room floor, does anyone know how to get it up? thanksHow do I get nail polish out of carpet?
OMG my daughter spilled a whole bottle of red polish on blue carpet. I bought 3 bottles of acetone nail polish remover -- it can't be the fake non-acetone type and absolutely saturated the carpet. At first it started streaking and I was freaking but as I kept pouring it on and rubbing it with a white cloth every bit came out!! and the original carpet did not fade! you can't get it too wet with the stuff. amazing! How do I get nail polish out of carpet?

What nail polish color should I get for my pedicure?

I'm pretty much up for anything. Should I do solid or french tip? If solid, what color would go best with my tan skin? All recommendations are highly appreciated. Thanks!

also, how does french tip work? do they paint your nails pink and then do the white? or just the white tips?

thanks so much! What nail polish color should I get for my pedicure?
Tan skin looks hot with french (they usually put a pale sheer pink then paint the white tip on top and glaze it to last). You can also get multicolor french (darker tip if you want or any other color). Being that you want to compliment your tan, go for bright pink, gold/yellow, or orange colors. They really make toes pop and look amazing on tan skin. Look at the colors they have, if none of them suit your style or you don't like any of them, go for the french!!! Happy sandal wearing!!What nail polish color should I get for my pedicure?
I love deep red on toes! esp with a tan. I like when you can see the polish, not just a french.. and NOOOO nail art, thats just tacky
Get a nice light pink! Send me a pic.
you should go with the french tip, it always looks clean and classy and it looks great with any skin color. depending on where you go, they will paint the tips white and go over it with clear nail polish..... good luck, hope i helped.
Pink! It's Spring %26amp; everyday is a pink day! If you do French they will just put the white tip onto your bare nails, then just a clear coat on top. If you'd like you can request them to put a coat of natural pink over top, but I would just let them do there thing!
french manicure or pink... a light pink will always go good with a nice tan... with french manicure they do the nails then put a layer of shiny pink then the white tip then clear coats....
Me thinks gold looks great with a tan...

    Glitter Red

I Have same kinda dress I wear Red

and One more colour But dont know which colour I say it I bought from chimer a nail polish online store http://www.chimeracc.com.au

Their colours are outstanding and quality are mind blowing and impressive

you can see chimera nail polish online store they have over 130 Nail polish colour so you will have an Idea click Playtime u will see application then match with your dress
the style now is bright nails, a lot of celebs are wearing bright neon colors so you could wear yellow if you have pretty dark skin, it doesnt look good on pale skin. black also looks super cute on short nails. and if all else fails you could never go wrong with a simple french!
black could be out of season, but if you want to try it go ahead.

cream works, french tip is chic, natural clear polish would fit well since the outfit has enough color. you can't always match colors with its same shade.
yellow since you have black accessories. The yellow would be left out if you have all black accessories. The yellow would balance the outfit out.
    I'd actually say : RED cuz it'll pop ;]

    but if u want matchyness:

clear, black, or yellow would work too [=
    Hmm ..

I think you should leave your Nails natural and Paint the tips of them 'Yellow' If your nails are long. (Mine aren't)

    Lol.
whatever color shoe you decide to wear, or if you are wearing some kind of fancy belt with it, i would match the color to those.
    Black Also
I would go with a nude color nail polish. It is subtle but your hands will look manicured. It will go great!
depending on the length of your nails, I would either use yellow or natural.
i think the best nail polish would be gold and you can get gold nail polish in some shops
black, yellow would be to much. plus black will give your look an edgy feel.
    black or pearl or clear!

How do you remove nail polish from a dash board?

I spilled some red nail polish on my beige dashboard. What is safe to remove it with, without damaging the dash board? How do you remove nail polish from a dash board?
yep, previous answer is good. Try anything you use, try it on a part of the dashboard that isn't easily visible in case it disfigures it. Beyond simple soap and water and a sponge....I would try something like WD-40 first. It is a solvent but doesn't seem to do much, if any harm. Next I would try rubbing alcohol. I don't think that will work, but is worth a try. Next i would try simple paint thinner. As already mentioned, acetone would take off the paint, but also probably dissolve the plastic dash. The last resort might be Goof-off. It is made for just such things and is available at hardware stores. If you do get some disfigurement or discoloration try Armor-all to cover the damage up.How do you remove nail polish from a dash board?
See if you can find some nail polish remover that does not contain acetone. Try it out with a very small application as the remover might dissolve the plastic. For that matter, the nail polish might have already chemically bonded with the plastic of the dashboard. Try what you try in tiny tiny spots.

Well, considering that you wouldn't use soap and water to get nail polish off your fingernails, that doesn't surprise me that it didn't work.

Try nail polish remover. :)How do I get nail polish off of a bathroom countertop?
    I commend you for posting this in the correct category. A lot of guys would have placed it in ';Singles %26amp; Dating.';

Before you use the nail polish remover, try it on an inconspicuous part of the countertop to see that it doesn't eat the countertop.

Then find a pistol and look for the person who told you that black nail polish was attractive. Just threaten him, don't do anything permanent. Since you are not going to follow the first part of my advice, I feel comfortable in giving you the second.

  • What if my dog licks human nail polish off her nails?

What if my dog licks human nail polish off her nails? Is it toxic? What if my dog licks human nail polish off her nails?
first of all. GET IT OFF. you need to just let it dry and then scrape it off, DON'T USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER. it is even more toxic. hold up her head while it dries. don't let her lick it. Please don't do it again, would you put it on a baby who sucks its thumb? What if my dog licks human nail polish off her nails?
WHY are you painting your dog's nails?

Yes, it is toxic. And stupid. Get it off NOW.
You don't paint a dogs nails even if you think it may be cute, its not.You lick the polish and let us know if its toxic.
please don't paint your dogs nails. If you need to paint nails paint your own or buy a doll
ofcourse its toxic! put something like food that she hates on her toenails so that she wont think of licking the nail polish off her nail again.
check the bottle and if it is non-toxic just give her some water and monitor her for unusual behavior and if so TAKE HER TO THE VET IMMEDIATELY!! if nothing happens than just forget it.
use no bite nail pollish over your color! i know that it tates bad and works on humans.. not sure about dogs but its worth a try... and as far as it being toxic i think it would be more toxic if you use finger nail pollish remover... i wouldnt worry about it being dangerious if you have a larger dog but if you have a small dog i wouldnt risk anything... ^_^
Here is a link with products that are toxic to dogs and Human nail polish is on the list.

    http://animal.discovery.com/guides/dogs/鈥?/a>

    http://www.healthy-dogs.net/whatcanpoiso鈥?/a>
Nail polish is toxic in large amounts. It contains Formaldehyde and Toluene both of which are toxic. But I don't think a small amount will harm your dog. I have bitten my nail since i was kid and Nail polish has not killed me yet. But I would not advise putting it on your dog. If you must put polish on your dog they do make nontoxic water based polish and the new peel and stick nail polish strips that are nontoxic and do not contain formaldehyde or toluene.
    I don't think anything happens
YES! You wouldn't lick nail polish off of your nails would you?

If it is licking it you shouldn't put it on your dog in the first place! Stop your dog right now and don't let it happen again, for your dog's safety..
That was so dumb to put nail polish on your dog. Can you say animal cruelty?

A deep frosted red looks good too though.

Hey, its nail polish, not a life long commitment.

Red will make you look paler, but that's the look. It's stiking.

In my experience, I love frosty tones. Not in a pinky-pink shade, but in a kind of purplish/burgundy. It picks up undertones in the skin, and gives you a nice wintery glow. Love it!
Red or hot pink! I have pale skin too and don't try to stop it, flaunt it! Just NEVER use dark colours, bright, electric colours are best. I got electric blue the other day and it looks amazing. Hope I helped!!

How do I get nail polish out of khackis and a comfortor?

I got pink nail polish on my comforter and my khacki capris. Is there any way it will come off?How do I get nail polish out of khackis and a comfortor?
Take a white wash cloth and dampen the edge with water, then dab it in non acetone nail polish remover...rub this gently on the khaki capris...there is a chance that it could discolor them lightly but it will be better than pink nail polish and is virtually unnoticeable...I've done this a couple times. The comforter however will be a little more diffiicult depending on what color it is and how big of a spot you got on it! If it's a light color, treat it the same was as the khaki's. If it's a dark or bright color, mix a little powder laundry detergent (that has color safe bleach in it) with a little bit of water...making a paste and rub it on the spot and just use your fingernail or a soft bristle toothbrush to gently rub the polish off. Then wash completely!

How do i remove nail polish from my lounge?

My.. darling.. Nieces visited yesterday, I have now found that there is a big red stain on my new lounges in my entertainment room.

How can i remove this, I'm not sure of the material, but its a olive green, soft material, possibly suede.

Any suggestions are 100% appreciated. How do i remove nail polish from my lounge?
I would use nail polish remover; first apply to soft cloth, then dab at the stain, (do not rub), it may take time, be very patient, do not apply to much, you may want to remove the cover, no transfer to cushion, you may want to iron with a towel over the stain as well, to heat the polish, then use the nail polish remover, as it will be soft, be very careful with the iron method, use in a room where a window can be opened for ventilationHow do i remove nail polish from my lounge?

How do you clean nail polish off a microfiber couch?

My daughter dumped a whole bottle of pink nail polish on our cream colored couch. I have tried to use nail polish remover on it, but did not lift much off. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -we put the nail polish where we the medicines and stuff now. I guess a little to late. Thanks. How do you clean nail polish off a microfiber couch?
The only commercial product I can think of that might help you is called ';Oops';, which is used for removing ink, dye, and paint stains. It's HIGHLY flammable, and would be TOXIC if ingested, so this is a job your ittle one probably shouldn't help with.

Get one container of ';oops'; (sold at wal-mart), and a stack of white towels/washclothes/rags...do not use colored rags, or you WILL have dye transfer.

Saturate one towel with the oops, and lay it over the nail polish stain, allowing it to soak in...lift off, replace with the next towel, saturated in oops, repeat until you have lifted the stain, then blot dry with white towels. Do not allow colored fabric to come in contact with the stain until the ';Oops'; is completely dry. This should remove most of the stain depending on how long it has set in.How do you clean nail polish off a microfiber couch?
U CANT. U MIGHT AS WELL COLOR IT ALL PINK NOW
gently scraped the nail polish (with the tip of a butter knife) trying to get the top layer off and then with a washcloth (light color so as not to transfer color ONTO the sofa) rubbed and scraped directly over the polish until it was clean. You need to just shape the cloth over your finger, put the tip in the opening of the remover bottle and moisten the cloth. Use your fingertip in the cloth to rub a small section of the microfiber until it comes clean and then with white paper towels (maybe a white towel would work also) rub across that small spot back and forth until it is nearly dry-this prevents rings from forming around where you cleaned. If you get the sofa too wet it will be hard to avoid rings. You need to only let each small part stay wet a few minutes, maybe 8-10 minutes at the most, and then dry it whether you're finished or not. You can go back to it after it dries but you should work fast so as to avoid this. Your chances of getting it completely off are better in the first cleaning. I worked in 1-2 inch sections, it was very tedious and time consuming but it worked. Good Luck!

  • How can i get nail polish out of the carpet without bleaching it?

I live in a dorm room %26amp; I spilled nail polish on our cheap-o carpet. I heard that using nail polish remover will bleach the carpet. If I don't get this up, I get a huge cleaning fine... and I would rather get it out myself.

Any suggestions? How can i get nail polish out of the carpet without bleaching it?
Oh, Oh!How can i get nail polish out of the carpet without bleaching it?
Well I really don't think the nail polish remover will hurt it, if anything if would discolor only a little but it won't bleach it. I would call the local hardware store and ask them what is the best thing to remove paint stains off of carpet without discoloring it'll work the same for finger nail polish stains. They carry things that remove stains out of carpet without harming it. Or go this website http://www.webopages.com/plush/fpolish.h鈥?/a>
I am in the same boat and gound answers on another site. Many suggestions, Windex, alcohol, WD40, Oxi Clean are a few; good luck!!
    You're stupid and gay!
Depending on the colour of the carpet, I say find a similar marker and just colour over it (it may take overlapping colours to work). Before you do this, I would *try* a whitening toothpaste on the stain, rub it in with a light coloured cloth. It might make it less noticeable.

Also if you're in a dorm, put a chair or something over it when you go to checkout. I know that when I left my dorm the search was very minimal and they didn't notice minor things.

    Good luck!

Destroy the couch with FIRE. As for the pants, just claim it's a fashion statement. People will think you are a nonconformist. How do I get nail polish off leather?
Please do not try nail varnish remover or any other solvent as this will remove finish and possibly colour from the leather.

You may be lucky and find that it peels off depending what type of leather you have. If it does it may still leave a mark or remove the colour.

Nail varnish remover will definitely remove the pigment from your suite as well as the nail varnish, you will then have another difficult problem to resolve. No available cleaners for leather will remove this type of damage so you have to resort to solvents which like the nail varnish remover will remove pigment. Therefore this is a job for a trained leather technician.

Contact LTT on 01423 881027 to find a trained technician in your area if you are in the UK. Please be warned that any DIY remedies you find WILL damage your leather and it is best left to the professionals.

My very naughty cat knocked over a small box of nail polish and one of the bottles broke. I now have several small nail polish stains in the carpet. I'm afraid that if I use nail polish remover it will ruin the carpet. I would appreciate any advice on this. Thanks! How do you get nail polish out of carpet?
With experience of my two daughter carrying RED fingernail polish and spilling it up my stairs here is what I did....

If you have Berber Carpet Skip this part...

I took some scissors and tried to cut out some of it. BE CAREFUL not to make a HUGE bald spot... this is going to thin out your carpet a bit however better than a BIG spot....

Secondly, Get some Acetone or some nail polish remover... Be careful because this will smear the polish and possibly fade your carpet... I would try to cut out as much as you can with out balding a huge spot in the carpet....

Use a towel... WHITE so the color won't bleed onto the carpet.... Lay the towel over the Polish... then, in a SPRAY bottle spray the remover onto the towel.. BLOT the towel and try to pick up the stains verses rubbing it in.... Rubbing is only going to make a bigger stain. This is going to take a few towels...Patience, and time.... continue with these steps until the polish is out of the carpet and on the towel. Make sure when you get the polish lifted onto the towel DO NOT put the towel with the polish back on the carpet! As when you spray the towel again that polish will be back into the carpet! Like I said this is going to use a lot of towels but, it is cheaper than replacing the carpet!

BLOT BLOT BLOT! and step on it to get the stain transfered on the towel. It will work just be patient... When you get fustrated walk away.. your spot is not going anwhere... Until you finish the steps. How do you get nail polish out of carpet?

If it's dry, i'm not sure. I spilled a whole bottle of polish on my blue carpet and I immediately blotted it up with paper towels and rubbed with a wet washcloth over and over and over. It eventually came out. But I found the information below online.

    Chanel Vamp.
    maroon is a winter color

basically it is dark and only one shade-it is a red with blue both of deep color

It will go with most colors but not close colors of mixture of blue and red=other purples

and about your question about Judaism this goes with color too=

Please go to your questions and give me a star as I have you as those type people tend to violate any that dont agree with them

I answered her claim to be a convert from Chistian to Jewish=You are a precious person truely loved by the Messiah of Israel

The point is the gentile that come to the Jewish Messiah is not required to study and practice Judaism laws-one of which if you carry money one the Sabbath you are as a Jewish person to be stoned to death along with wood or lighting a fire too.

I am a Jew, and I can tell you you didnt convert to Judaism nor were you ever a follower of the Messiah which is what Christian means be a person Jew or gentile born, you simply were and are part of religions-if you go in a garage that doesnt make you a car.

My nails turned orange from nail polish. How long will it take for it turn back to normal?

I wear nail polish a lot and my nails started turning orange. I'm gonna stop wearing nail polish til it goes back to normal but how long will that take?My nails turned orange from nail polish. How long will it take for it turn back to normal?
I read in Cosmopolitan magazine that if you rub a lemon peel over your nails, the left over tint of nail polish goes away (for a quick fix). However, to avoid it happening again, use a clear base coat (:My nails turned orange from nail polish. How long will it take for it turn back to normal?
I actually have yellowish nails right now too - fingernails! You can imagine how embarrassing that is. :( You just have to wait for the nail to grow, sort of like a snake shedding away it's old skin. The time it takes for the nail to come in depends whether you're a fast nail grower or not. I'm not, so I have to wait about 3 weeks to a month for it to be completely gone.
The same thing happened to me, it took about 1 to 2 weeks to turn back to normal. what i found out is that when you use dark colors a lot they tint your nails so what i do now is start with a light color and then just get darker. hope this helps.
It doesn't really fade away, mostly it takes however long it will be to grow out and be clipped.
When they grow out, the orange will go away (it will not be in the new nail coming in). Try using a clear base-coat under your nail polish to prevent them from changing colour again.
This happens a lot and is a result of no base coat. Make sure to always put base coat on your nails especially with darker colors because they tend to stain nails. But there is a product called nail bleach so stop by the store and pick up a bottle and it will fix your nails no problems very simple.

    Good Luck

Paint remover, but is VERY harsh and I'd say use as a last resort only. I would file the chipped parts perfectly smooth and then paint a darker color over the whole thing and then use a top coat.
    just paint over it
you could try to peel it off...

or, paint a darker color over.

    Pick it off.

u can just scratch it off or paint over

I have found that if you apply a darker color to your nails then a lighter color to the tips. that works pretty well.

you could also leave them + paint the tips a pale gold, green or silver. this woks very well.

Wipe nails with rubbing alcohol to make sure your nail beds are clean and free of residue, such as lotion and, obviously, left-over nail polish.

File your nails and make sure you do not have any rough edges or uneven nail surfaces around the tips.

Apply a nourishing base coat and no more than two coats of polish (the thicker it is, the more likely it is to peel right off).

Make sure you brush on a protective, chip resistant topcoat, and repeat this step every other day to keep your color sealed.

There is a carpet/fabric cleaner called Spot Shot or Hot Shot. I'm sorry, I can't remember it exactly, but it's a spray in an orange can and you can get it at Target or Walmart. I used it to get bright red nail polish out of my cream carpet. This was after I had tried nail polish remover and soap and for my efforts had simply made a larger stain. Just follow the instructions on the can, and when you blot it up it should be gone. It is safe for most fabrics, but it says to spot test first.

A base coat, your nail polish, then a top coat. If you are going to do work dealing with liquid, wear a glove.
I will never wear acrylics so I've had the same problem with paint staying on my nails. The only thing that works on my nails is OPI (base, polish %26amp; top coat) and Essie. I cook (so my hands stay wet %26amp; are constantly being washed) and I've been really impressed with these two brands. Just be sure to use two coats of color and let all the coats dry properly.
it may look silly and get a little hot, but I suggest wearing a snug fitting pair of gloves. Or go to OfficeMax or HomeDepot and get those rubber fingers for mail room workers. Hopefully you won't have to be butttoning any clothing up, but you should still be able to fold and hang clothes on hangers.

Will nail polish stains on carpet go on to wood floor underneath?

I have nail polish stains on my carpet. I'm probably going to rip out the carpet and just have the wood floors underneath. Will the stains from the nail polish be on the wood floors? Will they be big stains? Will nail polish stains on carpet go on to wood floor underneath?
Unless you've poured a few gallons of nail polish on the floor, the answer is no. The carpet is to thick to allow a fast drying liquid to penetrate it. Nail polish remover is a different story. It is fast drying (usually acetone) but very ';thin'; and penetrating.

When you pull the rug, you will probably find that the floors are dull or stained (cat pee is a common reason for carpet) If the floors are dull, get a price for a ';screen and coat';. That is a 100 grit buffing and two coats of finish. If they're trashed, sand and finish, if the cat peed on them (black stains), replace the stained boards, then sand and finish.

Buy a really good brand of nail polish, such as Sally Hansen- it's more expensive than other brands but worth it. Also, leave your nails to dry for as long as possible and then immerse them in a bowl of cold water for a minute or so. Every couple of days apply a new coat of clear polish to touch it up.

before putting nail polish on get a clear top coating and put that on and let it dry for about 5 mins or so and then put 2-3 coats of nail polish then let it dry for a few mins(until its not stick) and to finish it off put on a clear coat again...if you need help search it on youtube=)
Use a base coat and a top coat. I use the ';no chip'; top coat by Revlon and it's great. You just add a coat each day to protect the polish.
After the few coats or colored nail polish dry, put on several coats of clear polish. That should make them last at least 2x longer without chipping off. It always works for me.
Put on 2 coats of your regular nailpolish, waiting for the first to dry before putting the second one on.

Then put on a final single coat of clear nail polish :)
Use a base coat and a top coat.

In the meantime, do your best to keep the polish wet -- if it dries, it will be harder to get out.

You are probably going to have some sort of red stain where the polish was no matter what you do. The polish is considered a dye.

Can you use human nail polish on horses?

I was planning to put a horse in a parade. And I looked on this website and the total was 43.80 dollars for two bottles of Horse polish. I thought that was a little pricey for one parade. My friends mother used human nail polish on her horse and I was wondering if it was ok to use human nail polish. Can you use human nail polish on horses?
Yes, I have done it with lime green on my horses hooves for a barrel race contest at our stable in the past (I suck at barrels, not for me lol). It was so cute with his lime green bell boots and splint boots.

It takes a lot longer though with that annoying little brush, and it took me quite a few bottles. But yes you can.Can you use human nail polish on horses?
yeah sure i think it would be fine. but i would only use small portions at a time to prevent overwhelming fumes. and idont think i would use remover... just let it wear off.
That is a terrible idea... use Twinkle Toes. Its made fore horses and it gets it done quicker
    Sarah

I use to use White shoe polish covered with glue and Glitter. I also used a silver saddle and it made a very pleasing look to the judges of the Parade Class.
It will be expensive because of how many bottles you have to go through, and your horse has to stand really still because it takes awhile longer to dry, and it takes a long time to apply with that little brush.

How to get nail polish off my computer?

I accidently brushed my wet nail against the edge of my mac. I wasn't too worried because I assumed it would come off with nail polish remover. I applied the remover about a minute later and instead of getting rid of the red polish it just turned it into a pink blob. also the area around the polish has a neon yellow tinge because of the remover.

Does anyone know what could remove the stain? I tried PC Quick Wipes, but obviously they were useless. help! How to get nail polish off my computer?

  • What color of nail polish should I wear to my 20th high school reunion?

It's a three day event and I will be wearing outfits that are brown and white, red and black, and blue and brown throughout the festivities. I usually don't get manicures very often. What color polish would look good with these outfits. I am thinking very light pink, almost skin color. Also, I don't like French manicures so please don't suggest that I get one. What color of nail polish should I wear to my 20th high school reunion?
Red, or rose....on both fingernails and toes....wear shoes that display your toenails. Makes you look more dressed up.

have fun! What color of nail polish should I wear to my 20th high school reunion?
i don't know why you don't like the french manicure but i think the american manicures look really elegant and classy......more natural then the french
Try silver on your hands and toes or you could be like me and do alternating colors on your toes for fun!
get gold nails and then ask if if they can put a white grassy design on them. that's what i wore to my graduation with my brown dress and it looked gorgeous!

What color nail polish for daily wear is flattering for a 30 something women with short nails?

I have dark hair and eyes, light olive skin and tend to wear a lot of basic colors such as black, chocolate brown, deep blue, brick red, charcoal grey and off-white. I'm not looking to explore crazy new colors...just looking for something to help look poslished! What color nail polish for daily wear is flattering for a 30 something women with short nails?
    I like French Manicure.

It looks clean, natural and sophisticated

They apply white polish on the tip of your nail. Apply a pale pink or beige on top 1 -2 coats , depending on your liking.

Its suitable for most ages and most people love it.

What color nail polish for daily wear is flattering for a 30 something women with short nails?
Short nails with dark colors are always a good sntandby. Maroon and navy look best on all skin colors, plus look polished well. If you'd rather, a French manicure looks beautiful and professional on any woman.

Unless, of course, that woman is a factory worker. And if that's the case you probably shouldn't worry about nails anyway.
I've always found that dark, short, and square-shaped nails are my personal favorite.

Try something like burgundy, dark brown, or even black. I usually keep my nails black (not gothic!) because they're short and square.
    beige.

    or light pink.

Nail polish is constantly chipping off my nails, the same day I do them! Are my nails unhealthy?

I've used a few different kinds. OPI works best, but I've been wanting to use Nina Ultra Pro nail polish, but it peels right off! Am I doing something wrong, or are my nails just unhealthy?Nail polish is constantly chipping off my nails, the same day I do them! Are my nails unhealthy?
Some people have too much natural oil in their nails for polish. Make sure your nails are dry, go over them with alcohol dabbed on cotton first. Use a really good base coat, one that has an adhesive formula ( can't think of name). If there is a Sally's Beuty Supply near you, ask. Then use 2 coat of polish, letting each one dry, then apply a good top coat, reapply top coat every day or so. Good luckNail polish is constantly chipping off my nails, the same day I do them! Are my nails unhealthy?
My nail polish always chips off when I put a clear coat on b4 I put on the base color( and when i go to the nail shop they dont put clear polish on b4 they put on the main color and it lasts for atlease 2 months on my nails). And when you get cheap nail polish,it'll come off too.So try to not put on the clear polish b4 u put on the main color and get good heard of nail polish.
Not at all, you should always use a base coat AND a top coat, and make sure your polish isnt too thick, that could cause chippage. and if you swim a lot in pools with chlorine, the chlorine will ship off your nails. if it still chips when you use a top and a base coat and if its not thick or chlorined, then try switching nail polishes, sally hansen and OPI are both very good =]
Well there is always the possibility of nails being unhealthy but probaly not. The polish your using might not be the best brand or you might need more coverage. Try doing a clear base coat first and then a good polish. Stay away from N.Y.C. and brands similar. OPI is a good brand so stick with that. Maybe go to a nail salon and ask them to show you how to get it to stay.
    Doesn't sound like unhealthy nails.

Use Rimmel's Nail Rescue as a base coat to stop the varnish from drying your nails out [because then they would chip] then apply the colour. Wait for that to dry then use Nail Rescue again on top to prevent the varnish from chipping.

It works for me, and its cheap!
I don't think the problem is your nails. It might be the quality of the nail polish. a good trick to make you polish last longer is putting some nailpolish remover on you nails BEFORE you paint them. It removes the oil from you nails and makes the polish stick on better.
You should always clean the nail plate with a nail dehydrator first. Then apply a base coat before applying color.

some polishes will peel on you and stick fine on someone else. it's just the way it is.
    hmm..

    Well,

before you apply nailpolish youre suppose to apply a clear base coat..then you apply the color and then a top finishing clear coat to make it stay last longer.

if it still chips..your nail polish is probably sucky
Are you using a base coat first? I had the same problem until I started using a base coat. Seche Clear base coat is the best. And thier topcoat Seche Vite is the best topcoat. Hope this helps.
you could paint your nails and then add a top coat to it. like hard nails. :)

it works like bomb digg home brahhh.

What is the best way to remove nail polish with out using nail polish remover?

acetone, you can get it rather inexpenxively at your local hardware store. make sure you wear gloves when using it though, or it may sting your hands! Can clear nail polish/nail glue be used as a clear coat to keep those metal rings from turning fingers green?

yes clear nail polish works great! Can clear nail polish/nail glue be used as a clear coat to keep those metal rings from turning fingers green?
if your speaking of costume jewelry that oten turns your fingers green yes. you paint the clear nail polish all over the metal part of the jewlery and let it dry you may want to do atleast three coats so it lasts awhile. but this will prevent the jewlery from turning your skin a nasty green color.
Clear nail polish....I wouldn't use the glue. The polish does wear off. You have to keep applying it to make sure stays coated.
Clear nail polish works just fine, but make sure to re-apply every few weeks.

  • How to remove nail polish off fabric without nail polish remover?

AHhh! My mum has just bought loads of new bed sheets and guess what i spilt bright red nail polish all over it.I am ill at home and i don't want my mum to find out .

How can i get it out?How to remove nail polish off fabric without nail polish remover?
Your best move is to confess to your mum immediately she returns and beg her forgiveness.

Nail polish remover will probably get it off when you find some, but it might still leave a stain. If you use almost anything else you do will probably make the problem worse.

Honesty is the best policy! How to remove nail polish off fabric without nail polish remover?
It's not do-able I'm afraid. Nail polish remover (or similar) will just dilute and spread the stain, plus it will possibly melt the fabric. EEK!

I'd agree with those who said 'fess up to your mum. You could offer to pay for new sheets, or do chores to pay for them if you haven't got the money. She might take pity on you anyway being as you're not well. I'd recommend you APOLOGISE, don't whatever you do act all brazen as then you'll get her back up.

Good luck with your mum, and hope you feel better soon!
i actually dont think your be able to. i have heard that coke gets alot of stains out.
You are going to need some kind of spirit based liquid like white spirits or meths. Maybe lighter fluid? You could try a decent quality after shave or perfume as these are usually spirit based, just pour a little on a clean cloth (prefferably white) and rub a small area to test. Good luck!

(All these things are flammable, be careful!)
You don't have a hope in hell sorry. Find out where your mum got it from and buy the exact same one she'll never know!
The only thing which will remotely help is white spirits of some kind, so it might have to be nailvarnish remover if you don't have any lying around. Household cleaners don't stand a chance.

I hope the sheets aren't white, eek!

How can I remove nail polish from my acrylics without taking off the whole nail?

I just got my nails done, and I scraped some of my nails, So the nail polish looks really dumb. So how can I remove the nail polish with out removing the acrylic nail? How can I remove nail polish from my acrylics without taking off the whole nail?
Use a non-acetone nail polish remover.

I prefer to use cotton pads when removing nail polish from my nails, but you can use whatever you'd like. Don't soak your nails with the stuff, just put enough to take the polish off. After you remove the polish, be sure to fully wash your hands so that you don't leave behind any residue. Wait until your nails are completely dry before re-applying any nail polish. Finish off using a nice hand lotion. I personally like Cur茅l Targeted Therapy Hand %26amp; Cuticle Cream. How can I remove nail polish from my acrylics without taking off the whole nail?
you can get a certain nail polish remover that is safe for acrylic nails i don't know what it is but it will say something a____ free. Sorry i forgot the name.

(edit) as the other answers said it is non-acetone or acetone free. i thought it began with an a. haha
Use a non-acetone remover, dip a q-tip in it. very carefully, remove the nail polish on the top of the nail. for the corners, you may have to use a toothpick.
You can remove the nail polish without ruining the acrylic Nail using an Non- acetone Nail polish Remover..... If u use the ace-tone based one it will eat away at the acrylic.
    use non acetone remover.

What is the best nail polish for weak nails?

I have thin nails, and I am looking for a good polish to make them stronger and harder. Any suggestions??What is the best nail polish for weak nails?
OPI Nail Envy is great. It's clear, and it doesn't tend to chip or peel as much as some others that I've tried. Making sure you get enough calcium and protein will help to strengthen your nails as well. What is the best nail polish for weak nails?
In my humble opinion, the best nail polish is none. Like blazing red lip-stick that was very popular in the mid 19th century, it is gradually fading away (like strong makeup in general) and being replaced by a more subtle, natural look. (which I love)

(I study fashion, by the way. If you look at hundreds of slides of all kinds of different girls, most people find that the best looking people are the most natural, fresh-looking ones... whereas strong make-up wearers are usually more more stale or uncomfortable-looking)
    use non asitone nail remover
Take Biotin supplements, and eat healthy, well balanced meals. Be careful when using nail strengtheners. Most of them contain formaldehyde. While they may seem to help at first, in the long run your nails will become dry and brittle from the formaldehyde.
keeping them polished is a good way to start also a diet to high protein with strenthen as well.. The best product that you can buy in a local drugstore is sally hanson hard as nails
You may not want your nails to be harder - they tend to chip and flake more if they are hard and brittle. Flexible nails are generally more resilient. If you want your nails to be their healthiest, make sure you are eating a well balanced diet, and getting enough protein. Also, make sure that you are using hand lotion after each time your hands are exposed to water, and always use gloves when you are doing any household cleaning chores.

How can i remove nail polish from where my skin meets my nail?

I tried using a nail polish (Cutex for Sensitive Nails), and that got all my nail polish off, except for on the edges of my nails where my skin meets my nail. Please help! How can i remove nail polish from where my skin meets my nail?
If you've already tried nail polish remover, it will likely just take time to wear off on it's own. Try using a hand lotion several times a day; the extra moisture will make it more difficult for the nail polish to stick, and it will start separating from the skin, and then you can gently peel it off.How can i remove nail polish from where my skin meets my nail?
soak hands in warmest water until the skin is soft and rub in with orange stick Report Abuse

    try using ether(a chemical)

    i think that might help!!
!use an ear bud soaked in nail polish remover! its easier to get it off with it!
use a q-tip or something small. thats a hard to reach spot.
Try acetone (available at most hardware stores). It will definitely remove the polish, but be sure to moisturize your hands afterwards because it is a bit stronger than polish remover.

Next time you paint your nails, try using a good base coat first. It will help make your polish look a lot smoother, and when you remove the color, it will help 'float' the deep color off.
dip a q-tip in the nail polish remover, and just use it there. Or maybe just dipping your finger in the remover, and rubbing it with a cotton ball or something.

also, it might help to push your cuticles back.

What color nail polish would go best with a Hunter green bridesmaid dress?

I am in my friends wedding, and am not sure what color I should go with. I'm thinking maybe a sheer light pink color. I don't have the money to go have a manicure, and I don't have a steady enough hand to do my own tips. So, I'm trying to decide on a color. What color nail polish would go best with a Hunter green bridesmaid dress?
A lovely, shimmering Gold would go perfect with Hunter Green. What color nail polish would go best with a Hunter green bridesmaid dress?
Anything sheer, or maybe a cream color. White is also very in! Don't do any real colors, like hot pink, red, orange, blue, etc. If you want french tips I suggest buying DIY fake nails from somewhere such *** Walgreen's, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. They are EXTREMELY easy to do yourself and very, very cheap. They are great if you just want them for one day. I used them for my graduation and my cousin's wedding, and everyone thought they were just acrylics!
Definitely go for something understated, since hunter green is such a bold color.

Light pink is a good choice, a pearly color, or a sheer sparkly color. Something with a bit of a sheen or sparkle! Sheer colors especially will make it easier for a less-steady hand to paint.
i would say that a subtle pink would be pretty. not too noticeable but still cute at the same time. pink can go good with green if they are the right colors. if u wan something even softer, you can even go for a cream color. that would be stunning. if all else fails, just go clear

It's all retro for a reason: it comes back! Pretty much the same stuff we wear today. Early sixties showed a lot of stiletto heels, regular heels, sandals, browns and blacks. Late sixties/early seventies began the age of the platform heeled boots. Either way, you're good ;)

What color nail polish would you wear with a black and white dress with red accents?

I have a fabulous summer dress, it's an A-line with a bold black and white floral pattern. The dress also has bright red accents in some of the flowers. I'm planning on getting matching bright red strappy sandals and probably a bold set of jewelry that highlights the red. Is red nail polish going overboard on the red? (I think so.) But what color do you do for the mani/pedi - I don't want it to clash with the red shoes. What color nail polish would you wear with a black and white dress with red accents?
I think I might go with red nail polish myself, but if you honestly think that you'd be going overboard, trust your intuition and opt for a french manicure/pedicure. This will pretty much go with anything and (when done well) is classically elegant. What color nail polish would you wear with a black and white dress with red accents?
    Red
I think red nails would be cute with your dress - As long as you don't add too many red accessories to take away from the dress. But, if you're afraid red might be going overboard, try a french manicure. Black could also be really cute, if you aren't too afraid of that. Also, clear is nice. I like it because it's shiny and cute without over-doing it on color.
french, but like, do black and the tips red! :)
    Redddddddddd :D
    i would wear red
Depends on where you're going and how long you nails are. If it's a work function, you're right play it safe and go more neutral. If it's a date or something fun with friends, go ahead and play! Match your red to your shoes and I bet you make new friends. Who could resist talking to you!
Id say clear is a good way to go if you dont want to add another color in the mix. And getting some white polish to brush the tips will look great (with a little practice) and is cheaper than getting your nails done at a salon.
red.. but not bright red.. a cherry darker shade of red
red because its pretty!! and great with black!
I agree with the answers that a french manicure would be best. Red would be too much, and it would be too matchy-matchy.
i would say either black oval nails or (a cool twist on the french mani) do a black tipped instead of white!!!!!!!!!
    Red.

    I'm wearing ';Wet N Wild';

    Royal Red.

I think it's fabulous. You should wear it with your dress.
i would say black-its very cute and kinda in now-just make sure u put it on short nails.Or you can just buff ur nails
    okay three choices:

A classic french tip, a nice nude like opi's bubble bath polish

or a sheer shimmery polish such as opi's fit for queenland polish
How about ';I Am Not Really A Waitress'; from OPI? That red is very sexy and classy at the same time!
I think you should get ur mani/pedi done black and white. It's way~~~ cool and kind of prevents the red in ur outfit to go overboard.
i would say that red nail polish is a good choice and is not going over board at all.
french nail!! your dress has very bold colors already and I think doing your nails very bold would be over doing it
since you have black, red and white in your dress, and a bright red sandal, i would say go for french mani/pedi,trust me you wont go wrong.
    french,

    black,

    or

    shimmery white.

all those look really great as nail colors and would go great w. that outfit and yes red would be too much especially for your toes if you are going 2 be wearing red sandals.

The best nail polish to wear is always light pink. It is classy and looks good with alll colors and skin tones. If you are looking for something a little different, silver and gold are always pretty too. For the spring, bright yellow looks nice and if it is your style, you could wear white too. french manicure
Light shades of purple and pink. :]
It all depends on your skin tones and what shades suit yours best. Fair skin tends to look better in the lighter colors, warmer skin tones tend to look good in MANY if not all colors and darker skin tones tend to look better in darker colors. Of course any nail looks good in the naturals and neutral colors. SO, this general rule of thumb does not always apply, it is after all just general.

I, personally, love it when the shade has a hue that matches the skin tone.

Okay so you should either wear REALLY light colours or even transparent colours because those will make your nails look longer and try reverse french manis or even wear nude polish. I myself like Nearly Nude by Chanel but if you want to wear dark colours...make sure u drink a whole lotta milk. What nail polish color will make my nails look longer?
lighter colors make nails look longer, colors similar to your own skin tone, french manicures also help to elongate nails appearance since the white tip draws attention to the end versus the base
I have short nails and get a french manicure every week to make them look longer and neater. The nice thing about this is it also makes me bite them less and so they grow more.
French manicure, or pearl white or pearl light pink
Pinks always make them look longer!

What color nail polish should i choose for my school formal?

My school formal is rapidly approaching! Just a few days ago i found my dress. It is a complicated dress, but i need some advice on which color nail polish to pick that will correspond with my dress but not look tacky. The colors of my dress are cream, white, gold and silver with crystals. I am going to be having a pedicure and a manicure done, and i want the same color on each. If anyone could help me i would really appreciate it! Thanks! What color nail polish should i choose for my school formal?
    That's a really complicated colour.

If I were you I'd just go for a French Manicure, it's simple and classy and will go with any colour.

xWhat color nail polish should i choose for my school formal?
A nice light color would be the best so a nice light pink would would work. Or you could even get cream colored nails and put a small rhinestone in the middle of each nail. And you could use fake nails that already have a little rhinestone on them! =D

    Have fun at school formal!
Since the dress will go with any color i would choose something brighter. Like a hot pink. Also maybe when you get you finger nails just get the tip done hot pink with a design on the ring finger ! hope i helped out ! have fun ! (:

I think you should do a french manicure with gold tips. It is really easy to do yourself at home if you don't want to spend the extra cash.
I think gold nail polish or light pink because their pretty colours maybe you can ask the people to put a diamond on them it is so pretty
    WHITE

    WHICH GIRL IS PRETTIER?

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>
Why not get a french manicure, that looks good with everything! You could do a light pink with white on the tips, looks great!
If you want a guys' opinion, I like them light caramel colored ones.

The ones that resemble pearl coloring :)
I think some silver sparkle nail polish would look really good, just make sure to clear coat it afterwards. Maybe even a gem or two?
just do a pink and white french it's classy without going to far bold colors are out big time french manicure is the way to go
wel i think you should do this: you should have a french tips puton to make your nails longer and keep them l帽ike that it will look nice with the white n gold
i think a french manicure- white tips and square shaped too that's not tacky.

    hope this helps enjoy

How can I remove nail polish stains from my polished wooden table?

I spilled a little bit of nail polish on the table, tried scrubbing at it, and it won't come off. I know better not to use nail polish remover. Please help!

Thanks, and God bless. How can I remove nail polish stains from my polished wooden table?
Do not scrub wood wait untillits hard and dry and use your finger nail the perfect tool to pop up. If that doesn't work than try Min/Spirits or thinner.Make sure they will not damage the finish first.

What color nail polish goes with a black dress and black heels?

I don't want to look edgy at all, I want to look classy. I was thinking of purple nail polish. What color nail polish goes with a black dress and black heels?
Well i suggest a red french manicure ,it will look nice %26amp; very classy. But if you desire something else i would suggest a common french.

I must say a purple would either be too goth or too bright.A pink would not do it because it would be way, way, way to bright or dull.So maybe a baby blue or turquoise would be nice.Hope this helps. What color nail polish goes with a black dress and black heels?
black nail polish. red, hot pink, light pink. Pretty much any colour goes with black. I think that hot pink would look nice. The purple would like nice too. Do what you like the best.
I would definitely do red. It would really make your nails pop with an all black outfit. Maybe a red necklace as well.
you could go for something classy but edgy such as deep red or purple.

Or go for the classic french manicure
    Red :):)
french is a good onee,, light purplee., redd.
i second french manicure, or deep red.
  • straight hair

What color nail polish would look best with an all black dress?

My sister is going to prom this weekend and wants to know what color she should paint her nails. She doesn't want a french manicure, so thats outa the question. Her jewelry, purse and shoes are also all black. What color nail polish would look best with an all black dress?
Black goes with anything, so whatever is your sister's favorite color, is absolutely acceptable.

However, if she went with a french manicure, you could add little rhinestones and other decorations on it to make it stand out and beautify it. :)What color nail polish would look best with an all black dress?
    Haha no problem~ ^_^

Dark silver is a great idea. ;D (I personally love wearing silver polish myself lol) Glad to hear you're happy! :) Report Abuse

i think if u were a black dress with red nail pulish u will look good =] Report Abuse

GIRL, dont listen to them. When you wear a black dress, you make sure that you make it stand out by having brighter colored shoes, and of course, the DIVA thing to do, is match your polish with your shoes! Black goes with EVERYTHING, except black! All you need to do is make sure that the color of your shoes contrast with your skintone.

Darker skinned people and their accessories stand out better with brighter colors. And the lighter you get, the darker the accessories and polish should be. For example, a white girl would look good in a black dress with red shoes and red polish, a darker skinned african american (like myself) black dress with yellow or green would look good, and a hispanic girl with pink, asain girl with purple. just examples. I hope I helped.
I would suggest a bright pink, coral, or red nail polish. If you don't mind me saying so, it sounds like she is wearing a lot of black for a spring/summer occasion. I would also advise her to perhaps reconsider her accessories. Too much black this time a year can sometimes look a bit Gothic or melancholy (funeral attire). I would suggest, if she would like to keep the dark accessories, to perhaps put her hair in an updo with a fresh flower for an accent. I hope she has a great time; a girl never forgets her prom!
If your are more glam or rebely I'd do a cherry red. OPI has a fantastic red: ';I'm Not Really a Waitress';. For more subtle, OPI has a pretty pink: ';Not So Bora-Bor-ing Pink'; and I also like Sally Hanson ';Champagne';. Very pretty.

Also, if she wants a REALLY polished look, I find a stick on nail type that is available at Wal-greens for $2.99 (here in NE Ohio) by either Kiss or Broadway nails (I think its broadway) and its the prettyest pink ever, no nail polish comes close. You have to by the nail glue seperate, but its so pretty, thats the one I'd go with for sure.

    hth, good luck!
OPI has great colors ...and I agree I think a red would look nice ..check out this shade of red from OPI called Quarter of a Cent-Cherry-NLA34

    http://www.opi.com/opi/opistudio.aspx

But if you don't like that shade you can paint the models hand any color you want to get a better idea of how it would look....

    Hope this is helpful ~~~

Tell your sister to have a Great Time !
Go bold she doest have to have the reg french manicure, she could do black nails with a gold trim, or something like that I would paint the nail black then use a bold color for the tips:)
I say do them red. Or pearl white.

Want a more modern trendy look? Do them really bright like in turqoise or even yellow. Maybe hot pink!

Kinda like Rihanna did her with her blue dress: Hot!

To get a classic look apply Silver or Gold

If she is looking for a young ';teener'; look go for Glitters

If she wants the scandalous teenage look any bright color e.g. White, Pink, Blue, Green would do

    Don't put Black.
Anything. But a French Manicure is always the most beautiful look. It makes you look like you have class.
I would get a nice dark red. Like this, but maybe darker:

    http://gab.nyuu.org/blog/wp-upload/redna鈥?/a>

    Good Luck!
Something eye-catching as black can be a bit plain on its own. Green is nice or purple. She could get some green nail varnish and eyeshadow to match.
Depends the look she wants to accomplish.

French is the best but if she does not want that then pinks are out as well I would say a traditional classic deep red.
    list:

    hot pink

    black [duh]

    orange {from hot topic}

    pink{from hot topic}
Bright red or hot pink would add some nice edgy color to a black dress!

If she's going for something more subtle, maybe try a lighter pink.
I'm going to list off colors that would look good :)

    red,

    white,

yellow..but then she would look like a bumble bee..lol

    blue,

    gold,

    silver,

    maroon,

    andddd that's about it..
Something to match your underwear. Seriously. It's sexy.
anything matches with black, so ur choices are pretty out there

metallic colours would stand out against her overall

silver and gold and maybe even bronze

it would add a little twist to her outfit
Any color goes with black so its just down to taste really. Red and black look nicest, but all colors go with black.
any coolor you want! :D cause black matches with anything
Do a french manicure with black tips instead of white.

    It looks really cute!

    =]
    Majenta Pink!
A french manicure would be nice.
really she could use any color she wants because black goes with anything
    red
if she is going to look hot dark red if she just wants to look cute light pink
    Black.
red is a true classic with a black dress or anything black
If you have the time a DIY french manicure. that would look the best! :)
    I think black..
